Drop-Off Sites
All Drop-Off Sites accept household trash and recycling. Everyone who uses NWSWD Drop-off Sites for trash and recycling are charged a $1.00 user fee
Household Trash
18 gallon bag..........$2.00

There is no charge for Recycling. A list of recyclable items may be found here.
Drop Off Sites are not equipped to accept hazardous waste or oversized trash such as furniture or tires. Please bring these items to one of our household hazardous waste or special trash collections.
- St. Albans City
- Located at the Waste Water Treatment Plant on Rewes Road.
Saturday 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
Wednesday 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, April through October
- Bakersfield
- Located at the Bakersfield Elementary School on Academy Street.
Alternating Saturdays, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Fletcher
- Located at the Fletcher Town Garage
Alternating Saturdays, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Montgomery
- Located at the Town Garage
Saturdays 8:00 am to 1:00 pm

Transfer Stations
Both the fees and accepted items may vary at the transfer stations.
- North Hero Transfer Station
- Located on West Shore Road
Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (May-October) - Saturday 9:00 sm to 2:00 pm (November-April)
In addition to trash and recycling, metal and large items are accepted on the first and third Saturdays of the month.
- Alburgh Transfer Station
- Located on Route 78 approximately 500 yards east of the Route 2 intersection.
Wednesday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm (winter hours) - Wednesday 7:00 am to 12:00 pm (summer hours)
Saturday 7:00 am to 6:00 pm
Sunday 9:00 pm to 6:00 pm
In addition to trash and recycling, this station accepts scrap metal, larger items, and propane tanks.
District residents only
- Grand Isle Transfer Station
- Located on Hanson Lane
- Thursday 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Saturday 8:00 am to 2:00 pm
Some residency restrictions apply
- Non-District Transfer Station
- Highgate Transfer Station
- This is privately owned and operated by Casella Waste Management, Inc. The facility does accept larger items and construction debris. For additional information about hours of operation and acceptable materials, call (800)639-3083.
